The Swedish contact point for construction products answers your questions related to requirements when placing them on the Swedish market.

Construction products

Construction products covered by a harmonized technical specification must be CE marked. This includes indicating the technical performance of their essential characteristics. Which essential characteristics must be declared in the CE marking depends on the national building regulations. The Swedish building regulations set requirements for the performance of the finished construction works, rather than listing requirements for the individual construction products. The contact point will describe the link between the regulations and the information in the CE marking.

The CE marking of construction products means that they may be sold, but the user must assess their suitability for use based on the technical performance that the manufacturer declares for the product.

Construction products and materials in contact with drinking water

A new marking for construction products and materials that come into contact with drinking water will be introduced gradually from December 31, 2026. The marking means that the materials are approved for use.

Language Requirements

The declaration of performance, chemical information according to REACH, instructions for use, and safety information shall be in Swedish for construction products sold in Sweden. It is the manufacturer's responsibility to translate the documentation into the language required in the country of marketing. We recommend that the information in the CE marking of construction products is written in Swedish for products to be sold on the Swedish market.
