Professional and trade certifications

Reviewed:

Professional certificates and several different certifications, authorisations and qualifications shall ensure that workers have the right education and skills for the work they do. There are many certifications and industry organisations within the construction sector that confirm that the company, or a person with the company, has the right skills to carry out the work in question.

Trade certificates

Certain personal trade certificates are issued by the Joint Trade Committee of the Building Industry, Byggnadsindustrins Yrkesnämnd (BYN), which aims to supply skilled workers in the construction industry. Studies to become a construction worker in Sweden usually entail education in a construction oriented secondary school programme followed by on-the-job training. Subsequently, workers often apply for a trade certificate, for example as a woodworker, concrete worker, floor-layer, tiler or painter.
