Statutory insurance

There is a legal requirement for completion protection in new construction or the renovation of single-family homes on behalf of the consumer. The rules are in the Completion Protection Act (2014:227).

There must be completion protection when a commercial operator performs certain work related to a single-family home on behalf of a consumer. This is not necessary for multi-unit dwellings and commercial premises.

The completion protection consists of insurance or a bank guarantee. It is the consumer who must ensure that there is completion protection.
