CE-marking and market surveillance
A CE mark shows that the perfirmance of a construction product is declared using common European testing methods, that the product is assessed in a way decided by EU and that it complies with the minimum requirements that are valid within the EU. The National Board of Housing, Building and Planning develops Swedish regulations under national Swedish Building laws and issues technical specifications that make it possible to CE mark specific construction products. Our Board is also responsible of the Swedish market surveillance of construction products and of the implementation of EC directives on construction products into the Swedish regulatory system.
The Construction Products Directive will be replaced by Regulation
The Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEG concerns construction products intended to be used in buildings and building works. Within the EU there is an ongoing process to replace the directive with a new regulation, which then will substitute present national regulations. The National Board of Housing, Building and Planning is participating in the Council working group, which at present has Swedish chairmanship.
